The problem is with the Google people who are Filipinos, and who equate the Philippines with Tagalog, because they think they are nationalistic that way.

I was ready to pull my hair out in frustration as well. What is google up to anyway? Why the heck does it keep directing us to this irksome google page in tagalog, half of which is incomprehensible to some of us? C'mon, who was the Einstein wannabe who came up with this not so brilliant idea? I say give us a choice or get rid of the tagalog page altogether. What happened to our fundamental right to choose?

Google people, wake up! Are you even listening?

Exactly my sentiments! So I have been trying to find a way to remove the default google in Tagalog but I can't.

Why the heck is it defaulted to Tagalog??? Tagalog is only one of several languages in the Philippines. Who gave google a right to say that is what should be the universal default for google philippines?

And even if let's say default is "Filipino," I would still want to change the default setting to english. I'm as patriotic as any other nationalist. But i know where we should draw the line. And putting a google default in tagalog is pretentious at best. It does not show nationalism. On the ohter hand I tend to believe that the reason for the default is that more and more "tagalog-speaking filipinos" are deteriorating in their english proficiency - thus the need for a "tagalog" google default because they cannot comprehend, understand the english version.

This just shows how far we have deteriorated really if you ask me.

Such a good analysis. I am a friend of Fr. Stephen and I couldn't agree more with you. Fr. Stephen is the kind of person who is more into the usage of "WE/US" than "I/ME/YOU". One of a kind priest... one of a kind friend... writing a one of a kind prayer. Thank you for this blog.

I do not want to win actually... :P I would have wanted to back out already... it's just that sometimes people, if I may say so, can be so... rude. What's wrong with blogging, don't get me wrong, I love everything about blogging, is that people tend to forget is that behind that blog, behind that website, is a person... with feelings.... who also get hurt. I'm all for being vocal but, you know... we can be vocal without resulting to insulting the other person who like all of us has pride, feelings that may be trampled upon.
